Behind the wheel of his Lancer Evolution IX, multi-awarded racer Jonathan Tiu dominated the second leg of the 2012 Philippine Dragracing Championship’s Southern Series at the Batangas Racing Circuit (BRC) last Saturday, March 31. Nearly 100 cars, mostly from Batangas and parts of Metro Manila, took part in the second leg of the four-part Southern Series. JCT-Blanche Racing’s Tiu, who holds the quarter-mile track record at the BRC, added two more trophies to his already impressive collection after winning Quick 8 and Pro-Class categories. Tiu, a six-time national champion, outdrove the BRC’s defending champion Martin Manalo of RSL Motorsports, whose Honda Civic finished Quick 8 category with a time of 12.413 seconds. This proved no match to Tiu’s 11.410 seconds. Ace San Agustin finished third with a time of 12.697 seconds. At the more challenging bracket racing format Pro-Class category, Tiu and Manalo duked it out for three heats, with the last being declared a double-breakout after both racers went faster than their dialled-in times. Last February, the two top drivers shared honors at the BRC after Tiu booted Manalo out of Quick 8 category’s semi-final round while Manalo won the Pro-Class after Tiu fell to a red light. Below are the event’s other winners: Expert Class (12.50 seconds to 13.99 seconds) Thanks to DTS Philippines (http://www.dieseltuning.com.ph/) |
